WHO WE ARE

The NSW Justices Association, established in 1911, is a professional association for Justices of the Peace in New South Wales. It is a non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit organisation with 3500+ members.

There are twenty-three Branches, which usually hold monthly meetings, and a number of Support Groups, which generally meet every three months.

The New South Wales Justices Association is affiliated with the Magistrates Association of Great Britain and is a member of the Australasian Council of Justices Associations.

WHAT WE DO

The aims and objectives of the NSWJA are to promote, protect and assist the rights, character and interests of Justices of the Peace in New South Wales, to keep them informed, and to advise them on their duties. The Association is the advocate for all JPs in New South Wales, and has established cooperative working links with the New South Wales State Government.

The NSWJA produces a journal three times a year. With articles of relevance, this journal keeps JPs up to date; for example, if any changes are made to the roles, duties or relevant laws. The Association offers a training program, and since 2000 has organized an annual conference.

The Association encourages academic achievement and awards prizes in Administrative Law within the Faculties of Law at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales.

An exclusive range of merchandise, some of which is available only to members, is offered by the Association. Rubber stamps (for members only), at discounted prices, are very popular.
