NOEL CROWLEY JP
STATE PRESIDENT

Noel was a member of the NSWJA from 1965 until 1968, then rejoined in 1991 after his return from Western Australia. He was President of Sydney Branch 1998–2003, and is currently its Training Officer. Elected to the Board in 1999, Noel was Vice-President in 2001–03 and became State President in 2005.

Noel was instrumental in developing the reference manual, which was launched at the 2006 Conference, and has continued his involvement in this ongoing project. He is also a volunteer on the NSWJA Community JP Desks at the Family Court and the Downing Centre in the Sydney CBD.

Until late 1999 Noel was employed by the NAB, and he taught specialist banking subjects at Sydney Institute until 2003.

Noel is currently serving his third two-year term as State President.

SUELLEN STEWARD JP
STATE VICE-PRESIDENT
JOURNAL EDITOR

Suellen joined the NSWJA in 1995 and was first elected to the Board in 2007. She belongs to Sydney Branch.

In the most cost-effective manner possible, Suellen has endeavoured to increase the Association's profile through print, radio and web-based advertising. She has also begun seeking alternative income streams for the Association, including profit-share arrangements with companies providing services to members and applications for grant funding to assist our education and other programs of work. Suellen became Editor of The Justice of the Peace in September 2009.

Suellen is an experienced Senior Manager with extensive experience in project, operational and risk management areas. A member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, an Associate of the Australian Institute of Management and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, she holds a Masters Degree in Management.

BRETT McMILLAN JP
DIRECTOR – TREASURY

A JP and member of the NSWJA since 1988, Brett is an active participant in Ashfield–Burwood Branch. He was elected to the Board in 2004. When work and time permit, he volunteers at the NSWJA Community JP Desk at Leichhardt Market Place. Brett received a merit award in 2002.

In his professional life, Brett is an accountant (CPA).

Shalom Paul

SHALOM PAUL JP
DIRECTOR – MARKETING

Shalom Paul serves on the Board of Directors for the NSW Justices Association, and heads the Marketing portfolio since March 2011. He has previously held the positions of Director for Education and Training and Director for Promotions and Fundraising. He is a skilled industry practitioner with senior and executive level expertise in strategic partnerships and new business generation, B2B and B2C marketing, public and community relations, event management, and targeted creative sales campaigns.

With over 25 years of experience in some of Australia’s iconic brands including American Express, Gold Coast Tourism, Scenic and Evergreen Tours and Myer (Grace Bros) Shalom brings a wealth of experience and creativity to the NSWJA.

Notable is his passion for the not-for-profit sector where he has also worked closely over the years with UNICEF, the House With No Steps, Telefriend and more recently pioneered the Stem Cell Tourism Board for the For A Cure Foundation, Australia’s only fully dedicated foundation with full DGR status in support of stem cell research and medical tourism interests.

Shalom has been coaching and mentoring for over 15 years and developed a personal interest in work-life balance and natural approaches to lifestyle management and well-being. He is a qualified Trainer and Business Coach.

Passionate about human motivation, Shalom is most fulfilled when he has the privilege to inspire others’ to realising their true potential. He is married with one daughter and lives in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

SUE WARD JP
DIRECTOR – BRANCH AND DESK
  DEVELOPMENT (GSA)

Sue was elected to the Board in 2009. Currently serving as Vice-President and Training Officer of Northern Beaches Branch, she undertakes volunteer stints at several NSWJA Community JP Desks.

With a strong background in human resources and education, Sue's long-term career in PNG was focused on establishing a viable national and international education system. She served on the first board of the International Education Agency, together with several selection and review boards. In a career change, Sue worked under contract for five years with the Reserve Bank of Australia during its restructure. The experience gained there led her to undertake volunteer consultancy work for Australian Business Volunteers with several other Pacific Central Banks and a more recent extended project of an organisational restructure of the Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia.

Sue is presently the Board Deputy Chair of Australian Business Volunteers and is keenly interested in raising levels of governance and fostering strong membership.

DAVID WRIGHT JP
DIRECTOR – ADMINISTRATION AND
  INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

David was appointed a JP in 1971 and joined the Association in 2003. Appointed to the Board to fill a casual vacancy in November 2006, he was elected Director in his own right in 2007. Currently he is also President of Macarthur Branch.

David and his wife own and operate a legal support and legal copy service in Sydney. He has formal qualifications in business management and small business, and is a guest speaker at Business Enterprise Centres on the subjects of small business ownership and the law and small business. He also speaks to community organisations on the duties of a JP.

JANE ZAHRA JP
DIRECTOR – MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Jane became a JP in 1979 and joined the NSWJA in 1980. She has been a Director since 2005, and is currently President of Wollongong Branch.

As well as her portfolio duties, Jane travels around to visit many regional branches and support groups.

Jane owns and operates a party shop in Fairy Meadow.
