- It is the oldest Association of Justices of the Peace in NSW The New South Wales Justices Association commenced in early 1911 and has continued uninterrupted through the wars and depression. It is an Association with history and credibility.
- It is the largest and most wide ranging Association of Justices of the Peace in NSW The success of any organisation, business or social, is judged by its numerical strength.
We have over 4000 members and it is a growing membership.
- Members receive a personal identification card As only Justices of the Peace can join this Association, the ID card of its' members gives them a convenient and ready evidence of their position. This is more convenient than carrying Commission papers with you every time you go out.
- It produces a well regarded, library quality, Journal The Justice of the Peace, a quality A4 format journal, is sent to members in February, May, August and November which keeps members informed of any changes to duties of Justices of the Peace. It also provides educational material to keep Justices well informed, and it is a social contact point for all members.
- It is an Australian company The Association operates as a "Company" (ACN 000 048 813) under the Australian Company's Act with a Board of (elected, volunteer) Directors overseeing the operation of the company. This guarantees members a high standard of management of the Association/Company and service to members.
- It is a recognised community organisation The Association is a non-political, non-sectarian community serving organisation and it is recognised in the community by the many voluntary and selfless actions of its members. Members currently provide their services in stalls in many local shopping centres, libraries and court houses.
- Members are linked to a Branch Members are linked with one of 16 Branches throughout New South Wales. Even those in remote areas become Members of a Country Support Group.
- Members can get the answers to their questions If you need an answer to JP related questions, and we don't know it already, we can go straight to people in the legal profession who are part of the Association's team.
- It is small enough to be concerned about its members Unlike some organisations, which, when they grow, will only want to deal with "The Company", we consider the "PERSON". In fact it won't take you long to know our staff and Directors on a first name basis, because we are concerned about the individual.
- A full year's Membership Your Annual Subscription is for a FULL YEAR (1st January - 31st December). A Joining Fee is a "once off" administration cost.
