PLEASE NOTE - In the July 2016 issue of the journal, Peter Enderby wrote an article in relation to proof of life forms and a directive, which we do not agree with, from the Community Relations Unit (CRU). It was suggested that if you feel comfortable witnessing this type of form then you should continue to do so.
The upshot of this letter is that effective IMMEDIATELY. JPs are to DECLINE to witness any proof of life forms. JPs should direct the client to check the paperwork/form for an alternate person who will be able to witness the document.
If a client wishes to complain about this JPs can direct them to call of office of the Attorney General on (02) 8574 6107 or their local State Member of Parliament.
The Board will be discussing a potential solution to this matter
However, the above advice is in force until further notice.
The Association will also be petitioning the NSW Government to change the JP Act or JP Regulation.

There are twenty-three Branches, which usually hold monthly meetings, and a number of Support Groups, which generally meet every three months.
The New South Wales Justices Association is affiliated with the Magistrates Association of Great Britain and is a member of the Australasian Council of Justices Associations.
WHAT WE DO
The aims and objectives of the NSWJA are to promote, protect and assist the rights, character and interests of Justices of the Peace in New South Wales, to keep them informed, and to advise them on their duties. The Association is the advocate for all JPs in New South Wales, and has established cooperative working links with the New South Wales State Government.
The NSWJA produces a journal three times a year. With articles of relevance, this journal keeps JPs up to date, for example, when any changes are made to the roles, duties or relevant laws. The Association offers a training program, and since the year 2000 has organised an annual conference.
The Association encourages academic achievement and awards prizes in Administrative Law within the Faculties of Law at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales.
